Fulford Village Study Group

18 Feb 08

 

Present: Vera Robinson, John Rowlandson, John Moore, Larry Woods, Peter Lamb (Trustee)

 

(NB: All decisions by consensus.)

 

1)    Larry offered to serve as secretary.  It was agreed that he would record actions & agreements only.

2)    John Rowlandson accepted the nomination to serve as chair.

3)    It was agreed that a quorum would be 4 of 6 members (2/3).

4)    It was agreed that John Moore would undertake a revision of the group’s TOR to address procedural and other issues.

5)    It was agreed that we would establish a Community Reference Group (CRG) and that Larry would invite all others who had offered to serve on the study group to participate as members of this reference group.  Our invitation would also invite them to give us feedback of the Fulford Village Focus Group report, comment on the existing OCP, express other concerns and offer a vision statement indicating what they hoped Fulford to look like in 10-20 years.

6)    It was agreed that persons serving as alternates would have full proxy rights.

7)    It was agreed to give all future meeting dates to Peter for posting on the Islands Trust (IT) website and in the Driftwood.

8)    It was agreed to invite David Rapport and Luisa Maffi to speak to us at a future meeting about their “Healthy Ecosystems, Healthy Community” initiative and its relevance to our work.

9)    It was agreed our regular meeting time would be Thursday from 3-5 pm, starting 28 February and initially running through 10 April, with our initial report to be tabled that day.

10) A preliminary communication plan was sketched out.  This plan would involve the reference group, the IT website, the Driftwood, the Friends of Fulford email list and public gatherings, including a townhall meeting at Fulford Hall at the end of the process.

11) It was agreed to pursue the idea of an artist’s rendering of our ultimate vision for Fulford.

12) It was agreed to explore the question of what a village is during our next discussion by getting an historical perspective on the evolution of the Fulford area.
